Default Horn Bow built-in Sundering capabilities

So with the the horn bow is the armor penetration is 10%, but what is the chance? Is it a 10% chance just as the bow string mod, or is it some sort of permanent 10%, every arrow carries a 10%? Also the you can not stack the armor penetrating correct, gain 20% AP with the addition of 10% string?

the 10% ap is built in. and no, they don't = 20%, they would equal 19%.

so the 18% (which i don't understand exactly) would be adding to the base damage of EVERY arrow?

I am not sure what Retribution X meant by the 18%. But this is how it works to my knowledge::

The Hornbow has an inherent mod of +10% Armor Penetration. This is always active, and affects every arrow you fire. If you were to add a +10% AP (10% Chance) bow string, they would both work; seperatly however. You could say the AP stacks, but technically they work on their own properties. the inherent +10% AP is always active, yet the bow string would only work 10% of the time. So once the 10% chance kicked in, then in essence you would have 20% AP on that shot. (Btw, i may be wrong about the 10% always active on the hornbow, i say this according to experience and friends who also see it as such)

Perhaps Retribution X is referring to is the Armor Penetration Cap. I do not know the AP limit, but perhaps 18% is the most you can have at any time. That is the only thing i am not too sure about...

enjoy.

no. sorry, it's only 19% ap. they multiply, not add. in essence, when it kicks, well, here's the math.

Base 85 al.
85- 76.5-
85 x 0.1 = 8.5 = 76.5 x .1 = 7.65 = 68.85

68.5/85 = 19%.

My understanding is the chance doesn't stack but the effect does. So if the natural 10% sundering on horn bows affects 100% of the shots you take, the only thing left to chance is the 10% chance for 10% more ap. This would mean 10% of your attacks would have 20% ap, while the remaining 90% of attacks would do only 10% ap.

Math is posted above.

Retribution X is right, I dont understand why so many people repeatedly fail to understand compound percentages.
Yuor build it mod will remove 10% of their armour; then, if it triggers, sundering will remove 10%... BUT they only have 90% armour at this stage, so its 10% of 90% that gets removed, ie 9%. Total loss is therefore 10% + 9% =19%.

Yes, that makes sense. I misunderstood what Retribution X was trying to say.
